Junior soca artistes commended for great job in 2023 competition, with art form said to be resting in safe hands

From all accounts, the junior artistes did a fantastic job during the
2023 Global Ports Junior Party Monarch competition held on
Wednesday night, August 2, at Carnival City.

Taking the crown in the Groovy and Jumpy segments were Jai’Lilah
(Empress Buchanan) and Mini Rampler (Tejae Edwards),
respectively, while Edwards also was awarded for being the Most
Cooperative in that pre-judged segment.

In the first runner-up position in the Groovy segment was African
Prince (Noah Yeboah); the second runner-up was JP (Alijah
Richards); and the third runner-up spot went to Yung Zee (Zaid
Francis).

In the Jumpy category, meanwhile, Young Zyon (Zyon Martin) was
adjudged first runner-up and African Prince, who competed in both
segments, copped the second runner-up spot.

Taking the Most Punctual award in the pre-judged segment was
Mighty Bakkar.

Many people have commented that the soca art form is in safe
hands, and will continue to advance, given the talent of these young
standard bearers.

The organizers are being commended for the hard work that went
into preparing the juniors for the competition.
