Vandals break windows in two government buildings: the Magistrates Court abd the Ministry of Public Works

Two government buildings were the recent targets of vandalism
when unknown persons maliciously committed damage to their
windows.

The Police are now investigating both incidents, one involving the St.
John’s Magistrates Court and the other the Ministry of Works.
Reports say that an officer attached to Special Security Services
telephoned the Grays Farm Police Station and reported that
someone had broken a window at the court.

This offence is alleged to have occurred at about 5 a.m. on January
18, on Martin’s Road, in the area referred to as Knuckle Block.
Officers visited the scene to conduct investigations and saw that a
restroom window located on the western side of the building had
been broken out.

Apparently, the security officer had been on duty in the building
when she heard a loud bang. She conducted a patrol, but did not see
anything out of place as it was still dark.

However, she later discovered that the bathroom window had been
shattered by a thick, cylindrical Energizer battery that was on the
floor, along with several pieces of glass.

A search of the area was carried out, but no suspicious persons
we’re found.

In the other incident, the deputy chief security officer at the Ministry
of Public Works reported to the Criminal Investigations Department
(CID) that some unknown person had maliciously broken a window
at the Ministry.

This offence is said to have occurred sometime between 6 p.m. on
January 20 and 12:30 p.m. on January 21 at St. John’s Street.
Reports say the perpetrator, using a hard implement, broke a glass
window located on the northern side of the building, in the office of
the permanent secretary.
