Denroy Harrigan, victim of freak accident at the Port Authority, succumbs to his injuries

Denroy Harrigan, the shipping agent employee who was crushed in
a freak accident at the Antigua Port Authority more than a week ago,
has succumbed to his injuries.

During the first news report on Monday morning, July 31, Harrigan
had been reported to be still critically listed at the hospital, as his
medical team had seen no improvement in his condition.
The time of his death was not known, up to press time, but word
that he had died came before 8 a.m. on Monday.

Harrigan, 58, had been crushed between a truck and a metal
container when the vehicle reversed into him, severely injuring the
lower portion of his body. 

He underwent orthopaedic surgery for injuries to his pelvic area and
reportedly had received blood tranfusions; however, he remained
on a ventilator in the Intensive Care Unit to help with his breathing.

Residents and co-workers have since expressed condolences to
Harrigan’s family, while persons who did not know him have said
they are grieved by the tragic circumstances of his passing.
