Afternoon march and rally will mark the end of 17-day picket of Government House and bring attention to other pressing issues

Today, Thursday, June 22, brought an end to the 17-day picket of the
Governor-General’s Office, commemorating the 17 West Africans
who were lost at sea in late March.

Members of the Concerned Citizens and the United Progressive
Party began the activity on May 30, turning out religiously every
morning after 7 a.m.

The end of the picket coincides with the Party’s march, this
afternoon, to highlight a number of other issues, including the
shortage of potable water, rising crime, and the ongoing spike in the
cost of living.

The march is set to move off from the Multi-Purpose Cultural and
Exhibition Centre at Perry Bay and culminate on the southern side of
Government House with a rally.
