Overtaking truck collides, head on, with bus on Sir Sidney Walling Highway, injuring seven persons, including bus driver

Several people were injured and had to be rushed to the hospital on Thursday morning, May 4, after two vehicles in which they were travelling collided on the Sir Sydney Walling Highway.

The collision involved a delivery truck and a bus travelling in opposite directions on the busy roadway.

Reports say the truck driver was traveling west and allegedly lost control of the vehicle while overtaking traffic.  The maneuver sent the truck head on into the bus, which was going east.

As a result of the impact, the bus driver sustained severe injuries to his legs, and seven people are now receiving treatment at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre.

Several persons responded to the accident and rendered assistance to the injured before the Police and the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) arrived on the scene.

The front portion of the bus was extensively damaged, and parts from both vehicles could be seen strewn all over the roadway.

The Police continue appealing to drivers to comply with the traffic rules and regulations in order to prevent accidents like this.
