Boy, 13, is stabbed by 14-year-old schoolmate, while Ebenezer woman receives multiple wounds during home invasion
The police are investigating two stabbings – one involving a student and the other a female government worker, both of whom reportedly were stabbed multiple times.
The first incident occurred on Thursday, January 12, at about 11:30 a.m. at the Glanvilles Secondary School.
A teacher is said to have telephoned the Willikies Police Station and reported that a student at had been stabbed by another child.
Police officers visited the institution and were told by the school’s principal that a 14 year-old had stabbed a 13-year-old student about the body with a pair of scissors.
The Police are said to have met the complainant and his mother at the Trauma Department at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre. The young teen explained that he had been eating a lollipop when the other student attempted to take it from him.
When he knocked away his schoolmate’s hand, the child said, the other boy retaliated by taking a pair of scissors from his pocket and stabbing him three times – twice in the chest and once in the abdomen.
The wounds were determined to superficial, and the boy was reported to be in a stable condition. However, he was kept under observation at the hospital for six hours.
The principal reported the incident to the Ministry of Education, and the alleged offender has been suspended until January 30. Officers attached to the Youth Intervention Unit were also informed.
Meanwhile, an Ebenezer woman, Monifa St. John, is hospitalized following a violent attack in the early-morning hours of Friday, January 13, during an alleged home invasion.
St. John – who is an employee of the Ministry of Health – was reportedly stabbed 14 times by the assailant after he broke into her home and attacked her. Reports are that she is in a stable condition at this time.
It is alleged that the assailant also stole her government-assigned vehicle, along with important documents. However, a motive is yet to be established for the brutal incident.
