Joint drug-interdiction exercise nets 52lbs of compressed cannabis with a street value of more than $300k

Law-enforcement agencies have conducted yet another successful joint drug-interdiction operation – the second for this year, 2023.

Reportedly, officers from the Narcotics Department and Customs Enforcement Unit Task Force went on duty at about 11 a.m. on January 6 at the Deep Water Harbour, where a blue barrel was searched and was found to contain 52 vacuumed-sealed packages of cannabis.

The substance weighs 52 pounds in total and has an estimated street value of $312,000.

The barrel and its contents were taken to Police Headquarters pending further investigations.

On January 4, 10 pounds of the illegal drug was seized during a similar operation at the V.C. Bird International Airport Cargo Storage Shed.  It carried an estimated street value of $60,000.
