UPP’s housing-development plans will include homes that accommodate persons with disabilities, Thomas promises

Alister Thomas, the United Progressive Party (UPP) Candidate for St. John’s City West, says the Party’s housing-development plans do not focus only on constructing homes, but on building communities.

Thomas explains that some of the homes constructed by the UPP will be purpose-built to accommodate the physically disabled.

The housing scheme undertaken by the Browne Administration is a rip-off, Thomas says, with thousands of dollars being spent to subsidize each structure – which some home-owners complain are of a poor quality.

He notes that not one of these houses was built to accommodate persons with disabilities. However, he says that a UPP Administration would cater for the physically challenged while creating social spaces to accommodate their special needs.

According to Thomas, what he dubs “disability-friendly housing” will be one focus of the UPP’s development plans.
