Redevelopment and revival of dilapidated St. John’s will need a two-term tenure, deFreitas tells City South voters

Franz deFreitas, the United Progressive Party (UPP) Candidate for St. John’s City South, says one of his and the Party’s plans is the redevelopment of the City of St. John’s.

He describes the town as dilapidated and in need of a full overhaul, since, he says, the city is filthy and a turn-off for tourists.

DeFreitas says that a blended approach would be taken during the redevelopment initiative, and this would focus on business, housing and entertainment.

Meanwhile, in order to develop the wider constituency, deFreitas says increasing the housing stock would be critical.  However, in a community where there is insufficient land space, he says the construction of multi-storey buildings would be pursued.

Since the redevelopment of St. John’s City South will take some time to be completed, the UPP Candidate is asking for a tenure of 10 years.  And he expects that a review of his performance in the first five years will be made by the people of the constituency.

Once they see it fit and give him a second term, deFreitas says, he will ensure that St. John’s is a modern city, attracting more visitors to our shores.
