Contaminated laxative found on local shelves; consumers are warned not to consume it, but return to place of purchase

Since the product has been found on local shelves, consumers are being warned against purchasing Magnesium Citrate Saline Laxative – Oral Solution, due to microbial contamination.

The Prices and Consumer Affairs Division says a product recall of the item is now in effect; and, based on preliminary investigations, the recalled laxative has been found here. Those who have purchased it are advised not to consume this item.

The matter reportedly has been referred to the Central Board of Health so the product can be removed and discarded.

“The Division is advising consumers who may have purchased the product … [to] return it to the place of purchase for a full refund,” a press release says.

“Members of the public may also contact the Prices and Consumer Affairs Division at 462-4347 or consumeraffairs@ab.gov.ag for additional information or assistance.”
