Villa man being sought in connection with serious knife attacks on his in-laws, while frustrated Villa teen attempts suicide

The Police are now in search of a Villa man who injured two people, including the sister of his estranged wife, in a pre-dawn domestic dispute in Fort Road. Officers are appealing to him to surrender at any police station immediately.

Reports are that the suspect, Shajah Joyce, allegedly went to the house where his estranged wife was staying with her relatives and launched a knife attack at about 2:15 a.m. Thursday morning, July 14.

During the dispute, the man allegedly pulled the weapon and began to advance toward his wife. However, her sister went to her rescue and, as a result, was stabbed multiple times about the body.

Further reports are that a male relative later intervened in the dispute and he received a cut to the throat.

Reports say that both victims had to be rushed to the hospital for medical attention and remain there in serious condition. 

The suspect later fled from the scene and is now being sought in connection with the two wounding incidents.

Meanwhile, there are reports that a frustrated teenager attempted to take her own life on Tuesday, July 12.

The 19-year-old Villa woman reportedly telephoned her boyfriend and admitted that she had taken a quantity of sleeping pills in an attempt to kill herself.

He, in turn, called the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and reported what the young woman had said.

Reports say that officers quickly sprung into action and the woman was taken to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre by the Emergency Medical Services (EMS. She is reported to be in a stable condition.

According to further reports, the young woman told the Police that while she was at work on the date in question, at about 8:10 p.m., she experienced feelings of frustration and ingested a box of sleeping pills.

Police are investigating the incident.
