Instead of addressing inflation, Browne Administration is making economic situation worse, Senator Tabor says
Senator Damani Tabor accuses the Gaston Browne Administration of having done nothing to address the challenges of inflation, but, rather, adding to the economic problem.
Inflation is now a global issue; but it impacts Antigua and Barbuda more significantly since the country imports most of what it consumes.
Tabor says the Browne Administration continues to pass on increases in goods, including fuel, to the people, thereby exacerbating their hardship.
Meanwhile, he notes that other governments have implemented measures to help their citizens cope with the skyrocketing cost of living.
The Comptroller of Customs recently reported that the Department’s revenue collection is up by $10.6 million.
Senator Tabor believes this increase could be used to help ease the squeeze that many residents are facing as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
