Thomas calls for up to date audited accounts to have a true picture of the country’s fiscal position

Alister Thomas, the United Progressive Party (UPP) candidate for St. John’s City West is calling for the Gaston Browne administration to publish the country’s audited accounts in order to show how monies have been spent.

Thomas says that the audited accounts are designed to give detailed analyses of Budget allocations for expenditure and revenues and everything related to the fiscal undertakings of the government.

He is concerned that the budget recently presented by Finance Minister Gaston Browne was lacking, since it did not clearly outline how taxpayers’ monies were spent.

Thomas says that a billion-dollar budget was presented with no specific plans for certain important sectors, such as agriculture.

He says that the Nation does not know how monies have been spent in this sector dating back for several years.
