Sunday-afternoon traffic accident sends four children, among others, to the hospital

Several people, including children, were injured on Sunday, November 21, in a traffic accident in the city.

The collision occurred at the junction of St. Mary’s and Temple Streets at around 2:30 p,m.

Reports say that at least six people, including four children, were transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre after two vans collided.  One ended up on its side, which forced the passengers – most of whom were children – to climb through a window in order to get out.

Reportedly, they complained of severe pains about the body, while a girl emerged from the wreck with a bloodied face.

Video and photos of the crash went into circulation quickly, via social media, on Sunday.

Meanwhile, there was another accident, this one on Friday, November 19, in the Big Creek area.

Reports are that the driver of a small pick-up truck was rushed to the hospital following a crash.  It is said that the man lost control of the vehicle, which then ran off the road and into a nearby tree.

The vehicle was extensively damaged and the man also sustained injuries.

That incident reportedly occurred just before 8 p.m. in an area north of the bridge.

Police are investigating both incidents.

For the past two weekends, the Traffic Department has been kept busy responding to numerous collisions, none of which has been fatal.
