Active COVID-19 infections are in decline, but count of cases continues climb toward 4,000-mark

Over a three-day period the country recorded another 64 confirmed COVID-19 infections, although active cases continue to decline.  They now stand at 702, with 26 hospitalized cases.

On Wednesday, October 13, there were 28 new cases from samples processed at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre.  Thirty (30) cases were found positive for Thursday, October 14, from samples tested locally and at the Caribbean Public Health Agency.

The latest dashboard, released on Saturday, October 16, reported only six new infections.  Recoveries have increased to 3,121, while the total lab-confirmed cases, up to that date, is 3,918.

The cumulative cases continue to confuse residents, however, since the total for October 14 was 3,888.  Accordingly, persons are asking whether another 24 infections were discovered, but not reported, for October 15.

Deaths up to Saturday were reported as 95.

Meanwhile, as of October 15, Antigua and Barbuda has fully vaccinated 46,287 individuals, while 8,816 have received their first dose.
