Welcome relief as work on the Valley Road North resumes

Work on the Valley Road North commence this weekend during the existing curfew hours of 8pm to 5am.

The Ministry of Works in a notice to the general public says traffic will be impacted on that roadway beginning today (Friday, October 8) until Tuesday, October 12. There will be no work on Sunday (October 10).

According to the Works Ministry, “The installation of the crossings will result in a trench that will cut across the full width of the road, including the shoulders, and will cause the closure of the road to through traffic.”

Therefore, single lane traffic will be in effect for light vehicles and emergency vehicles only.

Today, workmen will commence work from the entrance of Jennings Primary School to 500 ft southwards.

On Saturday, (October 9) the works will extend 500 ft south of the Jennings Primary School to the entrance of Bolans.

Work on Monday (October 11) will be between Jolly Harbour and Valley Church while on Tuesday (October 12) it will run between Valley Church and the entrance to Ffryes Beach.

“All road users are asked to obey the traffic signage and proceed with caution when traversing the construction site,” the Ministry advises.
