OTHER PERSONS DETAINED FOR QUESTIONING AS COPS INVESTIGATE SATURDAY’S ARSON & LARCENY IN FALMOUTH

The Police say they are making headway in the investigation of an alleged arson and larceny at a Falmouth property on Saturday, May 1.

One person was apprehended by area residents immediately after the incident, and detained until law-enforcement officers arrived on the scene.

Sources say the Police have since taken other persons into custody and they are assisting with the investigations.

Fire tenders had to be summoned to the scene to extinguish the intense blaze, as clouds of black smoke billowed from the structure, which belonged to Sir Hugh Bailey.

Reports indicate that at least three young men were seen running from the house – which was being used as storeroom, Bailey says.  It is alleged that the men stole items before setting the uninsured building ablaze.

It was during their escape from the fire that one of them was apprehended and tied up until the Police arrived.

A video and pictures of the fire and of the young man have been making the rounds via social media.

The Police are thanking the community residents for their intervention, which has greatly assisted in the probe.
