HONOUR GUARD TO PAY RESPECTS TO FALLEN POLICEMAN

Members of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda are expected to line the streets as the cortege bearing the remains of Sergeant Hughon David makes its way to the St. John’s Public Cemetery where he will be laid to rest.

David died suddenly at his Yorks home on Sunday afternoon- about 5:30. He had tested positive over a week ago for the COVID-19 virues; however, relatives do not think that was the actual cause of his death.

David is alleged to have fallen and hit his head and an aunt recounts seeing froth coming from his mouth.

His mother and some of his siblings are unable to attend the funeral since they reside in the United States and COVID-19 protocols dictate that victims of the disease be buried in quick succession. This has been the case since the start of the pandemic since the medical professionals have stated that they do not know how the virus acts in dead bodies.

David, the father of two, has served the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda for over 26 years. He was last attached to the Minor Offence Department, but has also worked in Narcotics, Beat and Patrol and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

The burial is set for 2 this afternoon.
