More than 1,600 Vaccinated on Tuesday
Over 1,600 people were vaccinated against the COVID-19 viruson Tuesday, March 2, and the Ministry of Health is expressing satisfaction with the numbers serviced at its four sites.
The Sir Novelle Richards Academy site inoculated the highest number of people yesterday, with about 620 people receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Officials say a combined total of about 1,000 persons received the drug at the other three sites – the Villa Polyclinic, the Glanvilles Polyclinic, and the Multipurpose Cultural and Exhibition Centre.
Commenting on the progress of the campaign, Minister of Health Molwyn Joseph says the evidence suggests that each site has the potential to achieve the goal of inoculating 500 persons daily.
While there continue to be complaints about the process and the long queues, Joseph says that efforts are being made to improve efficiency at the sites, which are open daily from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, targeted vaccination of persons 65 years old and over continues today at the four locations.
Job-site inoculation is also ongoing, with employees of the National Solid Waste Authority currently receiving their shots.Over 200 persons reportedly received the drug at the Port Authority on Tuesday.
A schedule for other groups within the public sector will be released shortly, the Ministry of Health says.
