Bring back the Barbuda Land Act, Senator Jones Advises
Barbuda Senator Fabian Jones is calling on the Gaston Browne Administration to re-institute the Barbuda Land Act, under which several leases on the sister-island were granted in order to make the Council more self-sufficient.
In last week’s debate in the Upper House, Jones said this will also allow the body to meet its debts and become a net contributor to the Treasury.
Senator Jones says the sister-island is growing; yet it appears that the Central Government wants to remove all autonomy from the Council.
He says this is the case under an Antigua Labour Party administration.
