Centenarian Irenie Mussington has reached another remarkable milestone, marking her 103rd birthday surrounded by family, community members, and government officials who gathered to honour a woman whose extraordinary life is a testament to the strength and resilience that defines Antigua and Barbuda’s oldest generation.

The celebration was attended by Governor General His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams and Minister of Social and Urban Transformation the Honourable Rawdon Turner, who joined representatives from the Community Development and Citizens’ Engagement Division in extending warm congratulations to the centenarian on her special day.

On behalf of the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, Mussington was presented with an EC$10,000 cheque alongside two fruit baskets — a gesture of national recognition for one of the oldest living citizens of the twin-island nation.

The celebration comes just weeks after Antigua and Barbuda observed Centenarian Week 2026, during which Governor General Sir Rodney Williams made personal visits to the nation’s oldest citizens. The recent passing of Denzil O’Brien Cummins of Sea View Farm — who died at 101 in late June — makes the continued celebration of citizens like Irenie Mussington all the more meaningful. At 103, she stands as a remarkable symbol of longevity and enduring community bonds.

The nation joins her family and community in celebrating Irenie Mussington and wishing her continued good health as she embarks on her 104th year.
