Sutherlands resident claims gunman walked up to him and discharged a single bullet, which grazed him in the head; alleged shooter not found

A probe continues into a recent shooting in Sutherlands in which a 30-year-
old man was wounded in the head.

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID), according to reports, was
made aware of the incident after a 911 emergency operator reported the
matter.

As a result, officers from the Criminal Investigations Department, the CID Task
Force, and the Special Service Unit went on duty at the scene to conduct
investigations.

Allegedly, the victim was in the vicinity of Annita’s Superette and using its Wi-
Fi when a man walked up to him and fired a single shot, grazing him on the
left side of his head.

It is alleged that, in order to escape the attack, the Sutherlands man ran and
hid in some bushes. The gunman reportedly ran after him, but later
disappeared.

This incident is alleged to have occurred at about 11:45 p.m. on May 13.

The victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Further reports say
his wound was cleaned and he was kept for observation.

The reported assailant was wearing a red-and-black tam and was dressed in a
dark-coloured shirt and coloured beach pants.

The Police carried out a search at the scene; however, no spent shells nor
anyone fitting the description was found.
