Man takes a bullet in the back during drive-by shooting in Grays Farm; hospital says he is stable

Gun crimes continue to escalate, driving fear deeper into citizens and
residents, as the latest incident has landed a 23-year-old man in the hospital.
The victim is now nursing a gunshot wound, following a drive-by shooting on
Christian Street, Grays Farm, early Sunday morning, May 12.

The shooting is alleged to have taken place at about 12:15 a.m.
Allegedly, the victim sustained a single gunshot wound to the upper back.
However, sources say the perpetrator(s) had discharged several rounds at
him.

Doctors have described the man’s condition as being stable.
It is alleged that the gunman was travelling in a dark-coloured vehicle; but the
number of persons inside is not known.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the nearest
police station or the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at 462-3913.
It was last Wednesday, May 7, that the Cabinet met with the top officials of
several law-enforcement agencies to discuss the increase in crime in the
country.

Reportedly, the Police are yet to detail a comprehensive crime-fighting plan;
and yet, the Executive has announced that security measures are already in
place for the upcoming SIDS4 Conference, the T20 cricket tournament, and for
Carnival.

The Executive is pledging the resources of the Treasury to help law-
enforcement agencies tackle and curb criminal activities.
