The United Progressive Party (UPP), through Political Leader and
Leader of the Opposition Jamale Pringle, is paying tribute to the late
former police commissioner, Delano Christopher, who passed on the
weekend.

Christopher died at her Gunthorpes home on Sunday morning,
February 11, and is being celebrated for making history as the first
woman to lead the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda – and
any Force in the region.

In a message of condolence, Pringle writes: “On behalf of the United
Progressive Party, its Members of Parliament, caretakers, executive
members and units, I extend deepest condolences to the family of
Ms. Delano Christopher, former commissioner of police.”

He asks her family to take solace in knowing that Christopher’s
unwavering service to the Force and the Nation exceeded all
measures of selflessness and dedication – qualities rewarded by her
promotion to the position of commissioner and the conferral of the
Queen’s Police Medal (QPM).

The opposition leader also acknowledges Christopher’s commitment
to upholding and enforcing the law, while he salutes her “for being
the embodiment of Antigua and Barbuda’s spirit of service to a cause
greater than ourselves.”

He adds that the country acknowledges her personal sacrifices and
commitment to making the respective communities safer and more
peaceful while she served.
in the Force.

Pringle notes that the former top cop was also an example to the
girls and women who aspire to crack the glass ceiling in male-
dominated fields and make a positive impact on society.

According to him, “For these achievements, we will continue to
honour her memory.”
