Quinn-Williams proud of her impromptu picket and of expressing her dissatisfaction to Sir Molwyn, himself

Pearl Quinn-Williams has no regrets about staging a one-woman
picket outside the Ministry of Health on Tuesday, February 6,
because it brought her face to face with Minister of Health Sir
Molwyn Joseph, she says.

Quinn-Williams, the United Progressive Party (UPP) caretaker for St.
John’s Rural North, says the health ministry had planned a press
conference for Wednesday, February 7, and several concerned
citizens were expected to picket the Ministry, located on High and
Long Streets.

However, the engagement with members of the media was brought
forward to Tuesday, February 6, according to Williams, catching the
expected protestors off guard.

She says she received a call from a resident, inquiring whether the
picket was still on the cards, since the press conference was already
underway.

Stunned by the news, Quinn-Williams says she quickly sought to
round up some people to make their way to the Ministry of Health,
but no one was available.

Not to be deterred, however, the UPP caretaker decided that the
picket was going to take place – even if she alone showed up.

Quinn-Williams believes that Sir Molwyn got word of the impending
picket and thus brought forward the press conference.

Accordingly, the Rural North caretaker says she went into a
stationery store and purchased manila paper, made her placard, and
went to the location.

Quinn-Williams’ one-woman picket created quite a stir and
attracted the attention of a number of people, including passing
motorists and employees within the Ministry of Health.

Like hundreds of other residents, Quinn-Williams is of the opinion
that the healthcare sector is in crisis; thus, she was happy to take the
action by herself and bring attention to the ineptitude of the
minister of health.

The UPP caretaker is also pleased that she was able to express her
dissatisfaction to the minister, himself, as he came outside smiling
and observed that she was picketing.

That was Pearl Quinn-Williams, UPP, caretaker for St. John’s
Rural North.
