Anglican Dean says the time has come for parenting to be taught in the classroom

A call for “parenting” to be taught in schools and at the college level
is being made by the dean of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, the
Reverend Dwayne Cassius, as he addresses the increasing incidence
of youth violence and crime.

While several persons have proffered suggestions on how this
worrisome issue could be resolved, critics note that the Government
has not implemented any meaningful solutions – but has blamed
parents for their children’s delinquency.

According to Dean Cassius, it appears that parenting does not come
naturally to some persons, these days; therefore it should be placed
as a subject in the education curriculum.

He says the country has reached a stage where parents are seriously
failing, and it is evident in the behaviour of the young people.

Reverend Cassius says that, in other countries, parents are
compelled by the courts to take parenting classes when their
children run afoul of the law.

Maybe that is something that should be considered here, and
residents should stop taking parenting for granted, he suggests.
