Larceny of gas cylinder and items of furniture reported to the Parham Police Station

Two incidents of larceny are being investigated by the Police, one in
which a woman caught a man stealing her gas cylinder and the other
involving the theft of furniture from a retail store.

Reports say that a Pigotts woman telephoned the Parham Police
Station and complained that an unknown person had taken a 20-
pound gas cylinder from her property, and requested officers’
assistance.

This offence reportedly occurred at about 6:20 a.m. on November 8.

Reportedly, the woman was in her bathroom, situated on the
eastern side of the house, when she heard a sound and looked out
the window.

She then observed an unknown man leaving the yard with the gas
cylinder.

She shouted to him to put the container back; but he ran off in a
western direction and then fled in a white Nissan Almera vehicle.

The thief apparently had removed the cylinder by unscrewing it
from the regulator.
A search was carried out for the stolen object, but without success.

Meanwhile, the owner and manager of Gigi Industries Ltd., located
on Sir Sydney Walling Highway, reported to the Parham Police
Station that a Grays Farm man had stolen three chairs and a bench
valued at $2,101.05 from the business.
This offence reportedly occurred between 10 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. on
November 8.

Officers visited the scene, where the business owner directed them
to some nearby bushes in which a motor jeep, A71414, carrying the
stolen items, was located.

The proprietor identified the items as belonging to him.

The items were taken to the police station, while a 28-year-old Villa
man and a 38-year-old man from Grays Farm were arrested and
taken in for investigation purposes.

The duo was interviewed and statements taken; however, the
business owner requested that no further police action be taken in
the matter, and a statement to that effect was recorded .

The alleged offenders were later discharged pending further
investigations.
