Simon addresses SMS students, imploring them to reject violence and make this school year their best ever

Former school counselor Kelvin “Shugy” Simon, the United
Progressive Party candidate for St. Mary’s South, is encouraging all
students, especially those in his constituency, to strive for success in
this new school year, letting it be their best one yet – filled with
growth, learning, and fun.

Public schools opened their doors on Monday, September 4, ending
the summer vacation. And in a letter to the students in St. Mary’s
South, Simon admonishes them to strive for success and to be
respectful to their teachers and courteous to their fellow students
every day.

Simon tells the students that their school days should be their
happiest memories, and he encourages them to open their minds
and move ahead with wisdom and determination.

Conscious of, and concerned about, the ongoing surge in violence
among students, Simon is pleading with them to be the voice of
kindness and positivity and to shut out any fears or negative
thoughts.

He therefore encourages them to begin the new school year with
confidence and keep an eye on what is ahead, while always giving
thanks to God, their parents, teachers, and the villages that raise
them.

Simon offers the children his support, as well as that of the
community – which, he says, is there to support them in meeting
challenges and to see them reach their full potential.
