Second victim in Green Bay shooting succumbs to injuries, becoming the year’s fifth homicide and third in nine days

The country has now recorded its fifth homicide for 2023, with the
passing of 24-year-old Kenarka Ryan, who died a little over a week
after being shot.

Ryan – along with 20-year-old Neeyah Rose – was shot multiple
times on Monday night, August 14, by an unidentified gunman (or
gunmen) in Green Bay. Rose died after surgery that same night.

Following the shooting, the Jennings resident was said to be in
critical condition; but, earlier this week, it was reported that doctors
were pleased with his progress and his condition had improved.

However, he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday afternoon,
August 23, while still hospitalized at the Sir Lester Bird Medical
Centre.

Meanwhile, the Police continue to search for the assailant(s) in what
has now turned into a double murder.

Rose’s death made her the country’s third homicide victim for 2023,
while the fourth killing – the stabbing of a Bolans man, 66-year-old
Dennis Edwards – occurred on Monday night, August 21.

At present, another young male, Chet Lewis, 33, is said to remain in
a serious condition at the hospital after another shooting on Monday
night.

The Police are still appealing to the public for information on these
incidents, while the suspect in the fatal stabbing reportedly has
turned himself in.
