Carnival heats up with Friday night’s calypso titans’ clash and the return of Panorama on Saturday

Tonight will be the clash of the Calypso titans as the stage is set for
the Carib Beer Calypso Monarch Competition at Carnival City.
Ten calypsonians will do battle in two rounds of competition, as nine
seek to defeat the reigning monarch, King Zacari.

Among the contenders are Zacari’s daughter, Queen Thalia, along
with King Kaseba, King Singing Sudden, King Young Destroyer,
Douglas,  Ge’Eve, King Fiah, Raiine, and Willy Wawa.
The Calypso Monarch Competition is usually the most looked-
forward-to show in the annual summer festival — except for the

Party Monarch competition, which is slated for Sunday night, August
6.

Therefore, Progressive 107.3 FM will be providing coverage of the
event, with commentary led by William “Zizi” Thomas.
Tonight’s competition kicks off at 8 p.m.

Meanwhile, Panorama makes its first appearance – since the COVID-
19 pandemic closed down Carnival – on Saturday night, August 5,
with over a half-dozen bands set to compete.

Many residents are looking forward to the return of this popular
highlight on the Carnival calendar of events.
