Police take swift action to arrest Health employees alleged to be stealing fuel

Two employees of the Vector Control Unit in the Central Board of Health (CBH) are facing charges of larceny, after allegedly being caught stealing diesel.

It is alleged that both employees were running a racket with the fuel and selling it to a trucking company.

Reports say the diesel should have been used for spraying stagnant water to control the breeding of mosquitoes.

Allegations say the police executed a search warrant at the men’s homes and found the fuel – at least five gallons at one property.

ABS has report that the duo colluded to siphon the diesel, which they collected each morning before carrying out their duties.

The police reportedly made a quick intervention after being alerted to the theft.
