Progressive FM’s ‘Zizi’ Thomas and Tahna Weston complete journalism course focusing on Elections in the Digital Era
The Management of Progressive 107.3 FM congratulates Station Manager William “Zizi” Thomas and General Reporter Tahna Weston – members of the REAL News team – on their completion of an online journalism course.
Given Antigua and Barbuda’s impending General Elections, the award of these certificates could not have come at a better time, as Thomas and Weston have just wrapped a course in “Information and Elections in the Digital Era.”
The five-week course was offered by the University of Texas at Austin’s Knight Center for Journalism, a unit of the Moody College of Communication, and was sponsored by UNESCO and UNDP.
Thomas, already known for his investigative and research skills, says he is “looking forward to putting this new information to work in the lead-up to the polls and in Election Day coverage, itself.”
At the same time, he notes that he and Weston are planning to start another course in the coming weeks. The top performers will be selected to work on a US-based project, and Thomas has ambitions of being among those chosen.
Directors of the radio station’s Board are also commending Thomas and Weston, not only for successfully completing the course, but for the initiative they showed in sourcing the opportunity and upgrading their skill sets.
