Vernest Mack is newest member of the Electoral Commission, replacing Jeanette Charles whose tenure has ended

Vernest Mack has been appointed to the Antigua Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) and reportedly is looking forward to fulfilling her role as a Commissioner.

Mack, who was sworn in on September 27 by Sir Clare Roberts, Governor-General’s Deputy, replaces Jeanette Charles on the seven-member body.

Charles had been appointed by the Antigua and Barbuda Chamber of Commerce, the Antigua and Barbuda Trades Union Congress, and the Employers Federation, and her tenure came to an end in August 2022.

Mack, a former teacher, is said to bring a wealth of experience to the position, having served as a community activist and trade unionist.

She also served ABEC as a Returning Officer from 1999-2021 and as the training officer for all Returning Officers from 2004- 2018, working in both the General Elections and the Barbuda Council Elections.
