Eighty-one new COVID-19 infection confirmed in 17 days, with another fatality, bringing death toll to 146

Another COVID-19 death is being reported, as the country’s new virus infections stand at 81, the highest number the Ministry of Health has experienced in about three months.

The Ministry’s most recent dashboard reveals that these cases are as of September 21, and the related death was recorded on September 20.

No further information was released on the deceased, including gender, age, medical history or vaccination status.

However, of the new infections, five were recorded on September 5 and another five on September 6; three on September 7; 10 on September 8; eight on September 9; two on September 12; and five on September 13.

A total of 21 new cases were recorded on September 14; four on September 15; one on September 16; three on September 20; and 14 on September 21.

Health officials say that 2,218 samples were processed over this period.

The dashboard notes that there are three mild hospitalized cases and there were 92 recoveries during this time.   

The total number of lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in Antigua and Barbuda is 9,089, inclusive of 21 active cases.
