Isaac asks about official status of US$12 million received from PLH investors that PM Browne says is ‘not really a loan’

Chairman of the United Progressive Party D.Gisele Isaac is asking questions about a loan the Government received from the developers of the Peace Love and Happiness (PLH) project.

Months ago, in Parliament, Prime Minister Gaston Browne admitted that his Administration had accepted US$12 million from the investors, who are currently engaged in the construction of a resort and golf course on Barbuda.

However, when questioned about the terms and conditions at a later sitting, Browne told the Lower House that the money was not really a loan.

Accordingly, Isaac says she is wondering what this deal is truly about, since no investor gives money without getting something in return and because receipt of the money has not been documented officially.
