Remanded youth who escaped from Her Majesty’s Prison is recaptured by Police near Radio Range basketball court
A young man who escaped the confines of Her Majesty’s Prison on Tuesday, June 7, is now back behind bars.
Darren Giddings was recaptured by the Police sometime during the afternoon hours, after officers received information on his whereabouts.
The 21-year-old man is charged in connection with a wounding incident involving a 16-year-old youth.
While REAL News is yet to confirm how he escaped, he was recaptured close to an abandoned house in the vicinity of the Radio Range basketball court.
Based on information they had received, officers were in search of Giddings when they allegedly were tipped off to his whereabouts at about 2:30 p.m. They reportedly found Giddings hiding in the middle of some bushes.
He was taken into custody and returned to Her Majesty’s Prison.
Giddings, of Ottos, is facing an indictable charge of wounding Jahkeem Jackson with intent to murder, on April 29, at Ottos. He was on remand for that offence.
Meanwhile, residents continue to be critical of the Police and Prison authorities.
It was only last week that a Villa man accused of aggravated robbery escaped custody while on his way to remand. He told the court that officers had stopped to buy snacks in Potters, leaving the vehicle wide open, and he had seized the opportunity to run.
