CARIFA gold medalist Flemming to be celebrated with motorcade tonight; commentator Roberts adds his kudos

Dwayne Flemming, the CARIFTA 49 gold medalist in track and field, returns home this evening, April 21, to a victory celebration and a hero’s welcome.

Flemming, a Princess Margaret School student, beat the favourites, Gary Card and Shaquane Gordon, both from Jamaica, into second and fifth places, respectively, in the 100m Under-17 Boys Final held in Barbados last weekend.

A grand motorcade will be held at 6 p.m., moving off from the V.C. Bird International Airport and ending at the Yasco Sports Complex, where a brief ceremony will be held.

Progressive Sports commentator Denmore Roberts says he is proud of Flemming’s efforts, adding that, with more work and training, the youth will excel in this discipline.

Antigua and Barbuda performed well at this year’s CARIFTA games, taking three medals, including in the swimming competitions.

Accordingly, Roberts was full of praise for all the other athletes who represented well at the games.
