DeFreitas tells Administration to assist small businesses and stop trying to direct private companies’ operations
Franz deFreitas, the United Progressive Party (UPP) Candidate for St. John’s City South, says the Gaston Browne Administration continues to impose its style of dictatorship on private businesses.
DeFreitas says the Cabinet wants to dictate how these companies operate, and he refers specifically to a call by the Antigua Labour Party’s Chairman for Observer Radio to revoke its ban on appearances by Lionel “Max” Hurst.
Hurst, the Government’s spokesman, was removed from the station’s Monday-morning prime-time spot last week.
But instead of trying to dictate how they operate and bullying them, the Government needs to implement regulations to assist small and medium-sized businesses, deFreitas says.
