Escaped convict Shanell Thomas dead after being shot by Police in Cassada Gardens

Shanell Thomas, the escaped convict who reportedly went by the alias “Silence,” died on Wednesday night after  being shot by the Police.

Reports say the fatal shooting took place in the vicinity of the Cassada Gardens race track, and that Thomas later died at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre.

On Tuesday night, the fugitive reportedly exchanged gunfire with the Police before escaping into the bush.

At the time he was said to have been  driving in the New Winthorpes area, and the vehicle was subsequently confiscated and taken to Police Headquarters.

It was alleged that Thomas, who escaped from the Prison Farm at around midday on Tuesday, had been spotted at a girlfriend’s house, and neighbors had alerted the Police.

Thomas had been serving a sentence for kidnapping and was due to be released in late 2026.
