Short-lived drop in active virus cases, as numbers pass thousand-mark again

A day after it was reported that active COVID-19 cases had fallen below the 1,000 mark,  they have soared again, with 90 new lab-confirmed cases as of Thursday, January 13.

The Ministry of Health says these infections were realized from 167 samples processed at the hospital.

Reportedly there were also 51 recovered cases leading up to that time.  Nine people  remain hospitalized: five with moderate symptoms and four mild.

Consequently, the total number of lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in Antigua and Barbuda is  now 5,436, inclusive of 1,024 active cases.

Meanwhile, the vaccination totals have not been updated in more than a week.
