Michael Browne to return to Cabinet, Prime Minister confirms, with his new portfolio being announced on New Year’s Day

Barring any appeal of his “Not Guilty” verdict, Michael Browne will be reinstated as a member of Cabinet, says Prime Minister Gaston Browne.

The All Saints West MP, who faced serious criminal charges, was exonerated by a High Court Judge on Monday, December 13.

After allegations were made and charges were laid against him last November, Michael Browne resigned from the Executive and was replaced as the Minister of Education by Daryl Matthew.

Upon his reinstatement, Michael Browne will be placed over a Ministry, the Prime Minister says, “but not necessarily” Education.

This week’s Cabinet Notes indicate that Michael Browne’s return to the Executive was discussed among members on Wednesday, December 15.

His future portfolio will be announced on New Year’s Day 2022 when the Prime Minister “will share his decision with the Antigua and Barbuda people,” the Notes say.
