HOSPITAL WORKERS STAGE PROTEST DEMANDING THAT MANAGEMENT PAY OUTSTANDING MONIES

Workers at the Mount St. John Medical Centre (MSJMC) downed tools today, April 19, over the non-payment of risk allowances that date back more than 11 years, as well as the disrespect meted out to them by the hospital’s management.

Over 70 nurses and other staff gathered outside the hospital building in protest, forcing other medical practitioners to hold down operations.

The woman says they are tired of the constant disrespect meted out to them, as management does not seem to think it  prudent to speak to the affected workers.

According to the employee, while there is understandable difficulty meeting their outstanding payments, the hospital’s  management continues to hire new people.

She sees this as a slap in the face to those who have been working for years and are waiting to be paid.
