Families across Antigua and Barbuda seeking assistance with the cost of school uniforms ahead of the new academic year can begin applying for support under the government's 2026 School Uniform Grant Programme - started under the Dr. Winston Baldwin Spencer administration - from next week.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology announced that the programme, designed to help families with the purchase of school uniforms for the upcoming school year, will accept applications from July 13 through August 28, 2026, at the Multipurpose Centre in Antigua.
"Every child deserves the opportunity to begin the school year with confidence, and this initiative reflects our continued commitment to supporting families while investing in the education and future of our nation's children," the Ministry said in its announcement.
The programme forms part of the government's broader back-to-school support for families, especially pertinent in times when household budgets across the twin-island nation are under increasing strain from rising electricity costs, a looming water rate increase, increase in vehicle licensing fees and the broader cost-of-living pressures documented in the April 2026 Consumer Price Index report.
