A 66-year-old resident of Villa is recovering in the hospital after being shot in the chest during an incident in Mount Joy on Monday evening, while the alleged shooter has surrendered to local authorities.
The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda’s Office of Strategic Communications (STRATCOM) confirmed that the suspect, a 40-year-old man from Mount Joy, walked into the Parham Police Station at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Monday, July 13.
Upon entering the station, the man reported to officers that he had been involved in a shooting. He was immediately taken into police custody, and law enforcement officials seized a firearm in connection with the ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, the 66-year-old victim was rushed to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the right side of his chest. According to the latest medical updates, the injured man is currently in stable condition and continues to receive treatment.
