A 40-year-old resident of Mount Joy is currently in police custody after voluntarily surrendering to law enforcement following a Monday evening shooting that left a senior citizen hospitalized.
According to authorities, the suspect walked into the Parham Police Station at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Monday, July 13, and reported his involvement in a shooting. Officers immediately took the man into custody and successfully seized a firearm in connection with the incident.
The victim of the shooting has been identified as a 66-year-old male resident of Villa.
Emergency responders transported the older man to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he was treated for a single gunshot wound to the right side of his chest. Medical officials confirmed that he remains in stable condition and continues to receive treatment.
