Fight in Pigotts over stolen marijuana plant sees one man shot in the buttock and the other chopped with a cutlass; police investigating

The Police are probing a shooting incident during which two people were
injured in an altercation about a marijuana plant.

Reports say that a man whose alias is “Dollar Man” is the main suspect in this
shooting, which occurred in Pigotts on Sunday, June 2.

An anonymous caller is said to have telephoned the Parham Police Station and
reported that loud explosions had been heard in the vicinity of St. Mark’s
Drive.

It is alleged that the 39-year-old victim, who is commonly known as “Jeff,” was
at his home when he was attacked and shot by Dollar Man, a fellow villager, at
about 7:30 a.m.

Allegedly, the perpetrator and another man went to the victim’s home, armed
with a gun, and accused Jeff of stealing his marijuana tree. They got into an
altercation, and Dollar Man is alleged to have shot Jeff after Jeff reportedly
chopped him with a cutlass.

The perpetrator reportedly discharged several gunshots at the victim, and he
ran into his house, where he remained until the Police arrived. However, he
had sustained a gunshot wound to the lower part of his right buttock.

Allegedly, the victim admitted to taking the marijuana plant because he had
done work for Dollar man who refused to pay him.

Reports say the scene was cordoned off by the Police and a search was carried
out around the perimeter of the house. One live round of .45 ammunition and
four spent shells were found.

The victim reportedly handed over the cutlass he allegedly used to inflict the
wounds to Dollar Man, then was transported to the hospital by officers
attached to the Parham Police Station.

While at the medical facility, officers met the alleged perpetrator in the
Emergency Room; he had a laceration to the face and wounds to his fingers,
and he reported that his injuries had been inflicted by a person known to him.

Doctors said his injuries were serious but not life threatening. He reportedly
sustained a deep laceration and bone fracture to his right hand, and he was
referred to the surgical team to undergo emergency surgery.

Meanwhile, a CT scan was conducted on the shooting victim and it revealed
that the bullet had entered and exited his buttock.

He was treated and later discharged, while the other man was admitted.
