Argument escalates into cutlass fight in Bendals, with police arresting the alleged perpetrator
An offence of wounding is being investigated by the police after a Bendals man reported that he had been injured with a cutlass.
Reports say the man went to the St. John’s Police Station with a bleeding wound to his right palm, which, he claimed, had been inflicted by a young man known to him as “Gwayne,” also of Bendals.
The 25-year-old victim later went to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he was treated for the injury.
Allegations are that the victim and his attacker were involved in an argument, which escalated into a fight between them.
Reportedly, the perpetrator later armed himself with a cutlass, which he used to inflict the wound on the complainant.
During the fracas, the alleged offender also pushed the virtual complainant against a grey Toyota Axio, R3303, causing minor damage to the right quarter panel.
Reports say the police later arrested Gwayne Todd of Bendals Village on suspicion of committing these offences, which reportedly occurred at about 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, February 23, in the village.
