Former Commission Chair is asking for Jarvis to make a statement and assure the public that ABEC is election-ready

Former Chairman Bruce Goodwin says he is hoping the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) is ready for the January 18 polls and can support its claim of being prepared.

Goodwin is concerned about the photo list, which, in 2009, had not been printed in time for the opening of the polls at 6 a.m. He hopes that scenario will not be repeated this time around and the register is not being printed on the morning of the election.

Therefore, he recommends that Harold Lovell, the United Progressive Party (UPP) Political Leader, should call on ABEC Chairman John Jarvis to make a public statement and guarantee that everything is fully in place for the General Election on Wednesday.

When he was a member of the Commission, Goodwin says, he ensured that everything was in place three days prior to the polls being held.

Therefore, the former chairman is, himself, calling on Jarvis to make a public announcement and assure the public that everything was in place before Sunday, January 15.
