Falling COVID infections allow Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre to relax restrictions and increase visiting hours
As COVID-19 daily infections and active cases continue to decline, the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre has begun to relax a number of restrictions, including its visiting hours.
Visiting hours had been curtailed months ago due to the increase in virus cases and hospitalizations.
However, Public Relations Officer Salma Crump says persons will now be able to visit their sick loved ones and offer them the emotional support required at this time.
Crump says there will be a nine-hour visiting window daily, commencing today, Thursday, March 24, for the medical and surgical wards.
However, there remain some restrictions for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Pediatric Department. The PRO says that persons wishing to visit ICU patients should call ahead to ensure they are aware of what is required.
Crump says that as the COVID-19 situation continues to get better and the numbers and active cases continue to decrease, more of the hospital’s mandates will be dropped.
Crump says that all COVID-19 protocols, including the wearing of face masks and the sanitization of hands are still in place when visiting the medical facility.
