Medical Benefits Scheme to host ‘Brown Paper Bag Day’ to facilitate the safe disposal of all unused medication
In an effort to encourage the safe disposal of unused and expired medication, the Medical Benefits Scheme (MBS) will be hosting what is called “Brown Paper Bag Day.”
Dr. Janil Charles-Williams, the agency’s Public Relations Officer, says the initiative is scheduled for the end of March. At that time, persons will be encouraged to return expired medication to the Scheme for proper disposal.
Charles-Williams notes that the indiscriminate disposal of medication can be harmful to the environment.
Residents are advised that all unused medication – including drugs that were not issued by the MBS – are welcome.
